It all started back in May, 2002.  I attended a retreat in Oregon, and had an epiphany that I was to become a Doula!  I began searching on the web to find out how to "become a Doula", and during those days, and weeks, found many advertisements for Pregnant Belly Mask kits.  I had never heard of this cool craft before, and something in me stirred, I got excited, and just knew that this was for me!   My husband and I had been trying to concieve our first child together for around 9 months by then, and I remember thinking that this was what I wanted to do to have a lasting memory of my pregnancy!  Well, it ended up taking a year and a half to concieve our little angel boy, but after first seeing the ad's on the website's, my journey quickly began.   I got together with a midwife in town, who specializes in home birth, and started attending births with her.  She was so gracious to take me under her wing.  Not long after attending my first birth, I had the pleasure of creating my first, second, and third belly masks.  A client of the midwife (who is now MY midwife too) agreed to let me "experiment" on her and a pregnant friend of her's agreed too!  I finished both of them, full torso with arms and hands, and full torso with hands, in the same day, (their belly masks are pictured below...thank you Desi and Arin!) and so began my journey into Pregnant Belly Masking!
